Can vanilla ice-cream be described verbally? Precisely as difficult as it is to explain what Vanilla Ice-Cream tastes like, it is impossible to describe what the Happiness Program achieves. And just stating the benefits can feel like tall claims without substantiating what goes in on in the program. Yet here is an attempt.
First of all, to be qualified to do the Happiness Program, one must have this desire for change or a quest for discovery. Only a human is capable of moving towards a greater understanding of one-self. A cow or a dog has no such desire or need.
You could be looking for peace of mind, better health, a sense of purpose or balance in this topsy-turvy world full of uncertainties. The Happiness Program works no matter what your quest is, what your background is, what your life-beliefs are or how happy you think you already are.
It is a journey of awareness where every layer of our existence is attended to – the physical, the mental and energy layers. From session to session, through physical yoga techniques, breathing techniques and introspective questioning, participants gain a present moment awareness that opens up a perspective to life that they often did not know existed. The Yoga is simple yet powerful, the breathing gentle yet effective and wisdom concise yet profound.
We are aware our lives are shaped by our attitudes. In fact our attitudes are shaped by our perception, which in turn is a complex interplay of our judgement, memory and sense of identity. In other words, every moment of our existence is driven by our mind, intellect, memory and ego. When we clear the dust off all these layers of our existence, we enhance our ability to function in this world. “A disease-free body, quiver-free breath, stress-free mind, inhibition-free intellect, obsession-free memory, ego that includes all, and soul which is free from sorrow is the birthright of every human being.” – @Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
We see countless examples of inspiration in a talk we may have heard or a book we read of brave acts of change. Yet we know through personal experience that our lives don’t seem to change even though we are inspired .The Happiness Program bridges that gap between theory and application. The home-going instructions are simple enough to implement every day and effective enough to be life changing. There are numerous books that offer wisdom, yoga studios that teach the poses, but yet the Happiness Program is unique in its ability to effortlessly bridge the gap between intention and action, that eventually leads us to the desired outcomes in our lives.
Finally it is not easy to sustain anything new or different, but discipline is instilled through the model of bringing people together in weekly follow-up sessions and opportunities to participate in initiatives of social change that help individuals go beyond personal change to being instruments of change.
